I am not sure that I am happy with my first logo, so I went on to try a new one. I like the first one, I feel like it looks fancy, organic, and like it would apply to a middle aged audience that was health concious. I think It looks soothing, calm, and contemporary yet not too young.

Next I tried to go for something a little different. I wanted to make something more contemporary, clean, and that would stand out from the crowd. I guess I had a younger audience, around my age in mind. It still has an organic feel with its leaf like font, but with more of a clean edge.

I think I like this one better, but I am torn. When I asked students in the class, Joe and Liz, they said they liked them both, but that they were toward different audiences.

The first logo is more calming and relaxing for a slightly older audience, yet still middle-aged and educated. It is more elegant, focusing on imagery of a leaf in a soothing, steam-like form. The second is younger with a stronger/bolder presence and more structured looking. I think it looks more contemporary and focuses on the health benefits for strength rather than relaxation. However it is still organic and soothing with its rounded letters. It is definitely something I would buy because it looked cool.

As for the packaging itself, I came across a cylindrical bamboo container with a metal twist top, which is made out of sustainable materials that can be recycled and are tree-free. However, It would be excellent for storage and would definitely be meant for re-purposing. It would hold loose leaf tea, to attract the all-natural organic crowd because it would not use unnecessary plastics or paper. I also think it would make the tea stand out with a visually pleasing and interesting package, which is contemporary because of the metal top. It has a presence that is clean and strong.
I was reading about the whole foods marketing strategy, which states that in addition to stating the most obvious selling-point: all natural and organic, they also believe that educating the consumer on how the product benifits both the body and environment is important. Also, the packaging/product should appeal to the senses. It should be visually pleasing, have a engaging texture, and smell good. These things make the customer willing to pay more.

If I used the bamboo cylinder, I believe it would do just that. I would absolutely buy a product because of a modern look, and a unique bamboo cylinder contrasting with a sleek metal/tin top. It appeals to the senses. Also, information including how I am helping my health in combination with the environment is a market strategy. I would put a sticker or wrap around label with my logo. I am not sure if I want to use the clean white background or the yellowish orb behind it, as seen in one of my possible logo sketches.
When I first started to design my logo, I knew that I wanted to have a clean, modern looking concept that would appeal to a younger crowd and emphasize a healthy lifestyle through its nutrition and sustainable materials in the packaging. My logo originally looked like:
